Pediatric Sports Injuries
The division’s sports medicine specialists are expert in the diagnosis and treatment of sports-related injuries in children and adolescents. We focus on restoring function as safely and quickly as possible. Sports medicine includes evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of the injury, as well as prevention of re-injury. The majority of sports injuries can be treated without surgery.
The number of youth injuries is reaching epidemic proportions and young athletes are experiencing overuse injuries at younger and younger ages. Overuse injuries not only afflict young athletes in the short term, but also often lead to long-term consequences. Our goal is to ensure a positive recovery and return to a high level of activity, and to help children and teens mature into adulthood without long-term problems caused by sports injuries.
Conditions we treat include:
- Throwing injuries
- Knee injuries
- All sports-related upper and lower extremity injuries
- Sports-related spine injuries
