“Find a Doctor” is operated by Lifespan and includes all physicians who are on the medical staffs of Lifespan-affiliated hospitals, without any charge to them. Selection is based upon your needs and preferences. Search results will first present, in alphabetical order, physicians employed or contracted with Lifespan or its affiliates, followed by an alphabetical listing of physicians who are in Lifespan’s network of affiliated providers. At the end of that initial list, you can access an alphabetical listing of community physicians with privileges at Lifespan hospitals. All physicians in Find a Doctor have the opportunity to have a picture or video posted on the site. Neither the order of physicians, nor the presence or absence of a photo or video, in Find a Doctor is intended to reflect any preference, priority, or recommendation by Lifespan. Find a Doctor search results are also not based on the volume or value of referrals to Lifespan or its affiliates from any listed physician. Users are free to select their physician of choice from among all Lifespan-affiliated medical staff physicians.
Bryce Basques, MD, is an orthopedic spine surgeon who specializes in the surgical treatment of spinal disorders such as stenosis, disk herniations, spondylolisthesis, spinal deformity, trauma, and tumors. He is an assistant professor of orthopaedics at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Dr. Basques has a particular interest in minimally invasive spine surgery (“keyhole" surgery), rapid recovery, and motion preservation (non-fusion surgery). He customizes each treatment plan to each patient's needs, with a focus on non-operative management when possible.
He attended medical school at Yale University, where he completed a combined MD and Master of Health Science (MHS) program focused on clinical outcomes research. He completed the prestigious orthopedic surgery residency at Rush University, where he was an associate team physician for the Chicago Bulls and the Chicago White Sox. After residency, he completed the spine surgery fellowship at the renowned Rothman Institute, where he was an associate team physician for the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, and Philadelphia 76ers.
Dr. Basques has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and he regularly presents spine research at national and international academic meetings. He has received multiple research grants and awards from organizations including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), North American Spine Society (NASS), and the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association. Dr. Basques maintains an active clinical research laboratory and mentors medical students, residents, and fellows.
Dr. Basques serves on the NASS Research Funding Committee, for which he evaluates grant applications and directs research funding for the largest multispecialty spine society every year. He is also on the NASS Clinical Practice Guideline Committee, where he evaluates current literature to generate evidence-based recommendations that guide clinical practice worldwide. He is a peer-reviewer for multiple major academic journals.
